Week 8 Practice Plan
Session Overview:
This week will the coach pitching to batters from a standing position. This can be a difficult transition for hitters as the ball flight changes with the coach's arm slot a lot higher than the player is accustomed to - reassure players that they just need to get more reps to make an adjustment.
Practice Plan Outline:
Warm-up can be done by individual teams or as a large group. Set up players across a foul line and mark a line about 30 feet away and do 5-8 dynamic warm-ups. Drills such as: light jog, walking arm circles, high knees, butt kicks, lunges with a twist, zombie walks.
Finish the warm-up with 10 jumping jacks.
Teams get split into game and practice sessions.

The Net/Fence | Split the team into 2 groups and set each group on either on either side of a net. Using whiffle balls, coaches can also be in the middle. Musical Bases and Positions | Setup 4 bases and have the players lightly jogging in the middle. Coach calls a base or a position and all the players run to either the base or where the position normally stands before a pitch. | 1. Start with bases 2. Then do positions 3. Mix them up lastly |

Give Me 5 | Setup a home plate area and 1st base. Coach is behind 6 feet past 1B. When the coach gives a signal, the hitter takes an imaginary swing and runs to 1B, touches the base and doesn't stop until they give the coach a high five. Afterwards, the runner returns to home plate (and treats it like 2B) and stops on the base without over running it. | ||
