Orleans Little League

Major

Our Major division is offered for players aged 11 and 12 as of August of the current year.  Fun Fact: You can also hear this division referred to by some as Litle League.  This is mostly due to the fact that the Little League World Series, which takes place in August is played by players in this age group.

The Major Division program is very similar to our Minor Division program and is split into two seasons: Spring and Summer. Players must register for each season separately.

For the Spring season:
  • the season generally runs from the beginning of May to the end of June,
  • all games will be held in Orleans against other Orleans teams, and
  • the players are tiered into 2 levels: Canadian and National (see below for more information on the distinction between the two).
For the Summer season,
  • the season generally runs from the beginning of July to the end of August,
  • games will be held against other similarly tiered teams from across the city (this is called "Interlock play"), and
  • the players are tiered into 3 levels: All-Star, Canadian and National.
Tiering allows players to play against other players at similar skill and comfort levels.  The All-Star level in the Summer season is for our highest skilled athletes in the Major Division and involves the highest level of play and commitment.  As noted above, there are Canadian and National levels during the Spring and Summer seasons. The Canadian level is for those athletes who have more advanced skills at the major level. The National level is for those players who are still developing fundamental baseball skills. The goal of both the Canadian and National levels is always Player Development and coaches in both levels must adhere to fair play rules.

Due to the number of players in the Major Division, games can be played on any weeknight including Fridays, though we try to limit Friday night games as much as possible. Canadian and National level teams will have 2 games and an optional weekend practice at the discretion of the coach.
